Review: Aftershock

Author: Sylvia Day.
Genre: Romance, Erotica.
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

When it came to playing games, my lover Jax was a master strategist. He pulled strings behind the closed doors of D.C.’s most powerful political players, and somehow still found time to nearly sideline my career. What he didn’t know was that when I didn’t like the rules, I threw them out and made my own. I wasn’t going to let Jax get away with it. I wasn’t going to let him get away at all.
I loved Jax enough that it was impossible to give up. Jax loved me enough that giving up was the only end he’d consider. He didn’t think I could swim with the sharks. It was entirely my pleasure to show him that I’d already dived in…

Cover Review:

The cover is similar to the prequel's, the only change being the colour and shape of the glass. So my review pretty much stays the same in this regards.

Book Review:

Aftershock had much more things happening than the previous book, though its length was pretty much the same, which made it less fun. I'd have loved it if there were a hundred more pages.

The story and characters were perfect, but everything was way too rushed. I just start likingJax and then he goes and does something that makes me hate him.

The book was a roller coaster ride, exciting and just as fast. There were no dull moments.

The only slow and well paced part of the story was its ending, the epilogue. It was sweet and beautiful and I'm so glad it wasn't rushed.

I'd have loved it if there had been more content, but I placate myself by thinking that this was the author's debut work, and Crossfire Series is what she's capable of now.

All in All, Aftershock (and the duology as a whole) was exciting, fast and ended was sooner than I'd have liked.

Review: Certain Requirements

Author: Elinor Zimmerman.
Genre: LGBTQ, Romance, Erotica.
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

Phoenix Gomez wants nothing more than to be a full-time aerial dancer, and after years of hard work, her dream is coming true.

That’s until her Oakland rent spikes and her roommate moves across the country with his boyfriend. Desperate for a way to make a living, she accepts a position with a woman looking for a live-in submissive.

Phoenix has always kept her love of kinky submission strictly behind the bedroom door and inside the bounds of romantic relationships, until she meets Kris Andersen.

Why would Kris―a dapper butch, seasoned dominant, and tech hotshot―be interested in such an arrangement? Because in her rigidly ordered life, she has no time to fall in love. When Phoenix challenges the rules Kris thought she wanted, their connection grows, only to be put to the test when Phoenix’s career threatens to take her away from the Bay.

Cover Review:

The cover features Phoenix, the main character, performing her Ariel dance. It's not too creative, but it relates to the story well.

Book Review:

Woah, this was one intense read. There wasn't a moment that I thought the story was slowing down, or turning boring.

It was steamy, sexy, kinky and heartbreaking all at the same time. To be honest, this was the LGBT form of Fifty Shades, only Certain Requirements was hundred times better.

The characters were well crafted, easy to relate to, despite their different careers and fun to read.

Though I loved all the characters, my absolute favourite will have to be John, because he was such a good friend. The kind of friend everyone should have.

Certain Requirements is the kind of book that won't let you go until you turn the last page, and when you do that? You'll be smiling widely, making everyone think you've gone crazy. (Thank God I finished it at night!)

So yeah, go on and preorder this really awesome book!

Review: The Wild Cat

AuthorTaanya Sarma.
Genre: Crime Thriller.
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

Based on true events, this erotic thriller novel tells the tale of a young, naive woman named Tanya who enters the online dating and chat world. Her first foray into this digital realm initially proves to be bland and disappointing; however, sex, suspense, power struggles and attempted murder soon unfold. These unwelcome adventures interfere with her business and her sanity as she aspires to live up to her deceased parent’s standards.

A conman named Sam ensnares Aaron, a handsome investment banker, into his ploy and uses him as a pawn to lure women into doing things they normally wouldn’t do. Sam then exposes their personal information as well as their images, sometimes in the act of cyber sex, and posts them on a very successful porn website that he owns. Tanya’s encounter with these two men evolves into a long, winding road, with each turn bringing irreparable changes in her life.

Enraged by the deceit and the unconscionable behavior of these men, Tanya turns whistleblower and vows to assist the FBI in shutting down the dating app and porn site - and she won’t stop until the perverted perpetrators are behind bars. She never relents, but ultimately laments, “I never thought that I would have to give up my life to remain alive.”

Cover Review:

The cover is absolutely beautiful, and I am so in love with it!

Book Review:

Writing such a book should be illegal! I mean, I absolutely loved the book. It was action-packed, full of twists, sarcasm and suspense.

I was definitely going to give it five stars but the ending changed my opinion. I mean, it was the king of cliffhangers.

I mean, the story ends with a shot being fired. The last line is actually 'BANG. BANG.' And it isn't even mentioned who got shot!

Also, it's not just that the novel has a cliffhanger, but it's also incomplete. It seems like a novel was divided into two just to make it a duology. And that made me feel real bad.

But other than that, The Wild Cat was a really interesting, informative and exciting read! I hope I'll be able to read the next book soon because I really need to know who got shot!

Review: Darker

Author: E.L. James
Genre: Romance, Erotica
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the globe.

Their scorching, sensual affair ended in heartbreak and recrimination, but Christian Grey cannot get Anastasia Steele out of his mind, or his blood. Determined to win her back, he tries to suppress his darkest desires and his need for complete control, and to love Ana on her own terms.

But the horrors of his childhood still haunt him, and Ana’s scheming boss, Jack Hyde, clearly wants her for himself. Can Christian’s confidant and therapist, Dr. Flynn, help him face down his demons? Or will the possessiveness of Elena, his seducer, and the deranged devotion of Leila, his former submissive, drag Christian down into the past?
And if Christian does win Ana back, can a man so dark and damaged ever hope to keep her?

Cover Review:

The cover is the usual gray stuff. Not a fan of it, that's for sure.

Book Review:

I didn't read the first book in this series (The Christian's POV series that is) because I hadn't really enjoyed Fifty Shades Of Grey. I wouldn't have continued reading it then had I not been so curious about Christian's past. And so I read Fifty Shades Darker. I had never imagined that I'd fall in love with it.

So when Darker came out, I knew I had to read it, even if I hadn't read the first one. And I did read it. And loved it even more, if that's possible.

I didn't really know what to expect. I had thought that this book being from Christian's POV would be dark, cold, hard just like he was portrayed in the earlier books. But no. This person was so different from the one I had known. I never thought I'd use this word to describe this person, but Christian Grey in Darker was...cute. Yes, cute! On the inside he sounded just like a teenager. Hurt, confused, in love and human.

So yeah, despite everything, despite all the negative vibes about this book and series, I loved Darker. <3

I'm not sure I'll read the next book when it comes out, because Fifty Shades Darker was my favorite in the series and that's the only reason why I read Darker. Maybe I will. Maybe not.
