Author: Shilpa Pitroda.
Genre: General Fiction, Short Story.
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

Life is strange. Sometimes it gives you the best times to cherish as long as you can. But then, it also gives us the most challenging tasks. The beautiful moments turn ugly when things take the most dramatic turn.

The lives of Aahil, Dhyey and Mithil takes drastic turns and they are left stranded in the course of life. Their choices and decisions make or mar their very existence. Grievances of Life brings these guys together as they have their own pains and turmoils. They have one more common thing: the addiction to Drugs.
Check out these short stories that will force you to ponder and value that you already have. Grievances of Life is the story of three men who are unaware when Life hits them in such a way that they lose their sensibilities and seem to get drowned in the ocean of pain and distress.

Cover Review:

The cover is pretty simple and looks more like a randomly picked picture than a well thought out cover.

Book Review:

Grievances Of Life is short, the stories in it are shorter. All three of the stories are connected to each other by a small link, that is a bar in Goa that all three main characters visit at the same time.

The stories are definitely interesting and entertaining, though they are really very short.

But other than their shortness and a few confusing sentences, the book was a fun read altogether.

Short, suspenseful and entertaining, Grievances Of Life can be a good choice when you need a quickie!

Review: A Spell In The Country

Authors: Heide Goody & Iain Grant.
Genre: Fantasy, Comedy.
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

Dee is a Good Witch but she wonders if she could be a better witch.
She wonders if there’s more to life than Disney movie marathons, eating a whole box of chocolates for dinner and brewing up potions in her bathtub. So when she’s offered a chance to go on a personal development course in the English countryside, she packs her bags, says goodbye to the Shelter for Unloved Animals charity shop and sets a course for self-improvement.

Caroline isn’t just a Good Witch, she’s a fricking awesome witch.
She likes to find the easy path through life: what her good looks can’t get for her, a few magic charms can. But she’s bored of being a waitress and needs something different in her life. So when a one night stand offers her a place on an all-expenses-paid residential course in a big old country house, she figures she’s got nothing to lose.

Jenny is a Wicked Witch. She just wishes she wasn’t.
On her fifteenth birthday, she got her first wart, her own imp and a Celine Dion CD. She still has the imp. She also has a barely controllable urge to eat human children which is socially awkward to say the least and not made any easier when a teenager on the run turns to her for help. With gangsters and bent cops on their trail, Jenny needs to find a place outside the city where they can lay low for a while.
For very different reasons, three very different witches end up on the same training course and land in a whole lot of trouble when they discover that there’s a reason why their free country break sounds too good to be true. Foul-mouthed imps, wererats, naked gardeners, tree monsters, ghosts and stampeding donkeys abound in a tale about discovering your inner witch.

Cover Review:

The cover is simple and childish, not something I'd usually pick, but the novel itself is way awesome and I'm glad I did read it!

Book Review:

Hilarious. Entertaining. Full of Action. Absolutely funny. These are the words I'd use to describe this book.

Right from the start, A Spell In The Country has been nothing but a roller coaster ride of jokes, hilarious one liners and heart touching moments.

What do you get when you gather up a bunch of different kinds of witches and make them befriend each other? You get stomach cramps from too much laughing, and you get aching cheeks because of too much grinning!

I read this book a couple of days before my final exams, and trust me, this is exactly what I needed. A good laugh is the best before-exam therapy, and I got that from reading this book.

I'm unable to choose a favorite character because all of them were so awesome in their own ways.

I can go on and on about this book because I loved it so much, but I also need to study so I don't fail. (shivers!)

So I'll take a leave now, and do get your hands on a copy of A Spell In The Country soon because no one should miss out on this one! In Zoffner's words, this book is fab and groovy!

Review: Dangerous Score

Author: Michael Bearcroft
Genre: Football Thriller
Rating: đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«đŸ«

Blurb:

Football hero Jason Clooney is riding high, until a date with a beautiful woman lands him in trouble with the media and into a battle with the criminal underworld.

Now against a backdrop of an uncertain professional future, Jason has to confront disturbing revelations surrounding his new girlfriend's family.

From football action on the pitch to behind the scenes plotting, to battles with a criminal gang and constant media attention, all add to the toughest challenges he has ever faced in life and love, as a player and as a man.

Cover Review

The cover is dark, Football-y and totally in tune with the storyline.

Book Review:

Dangerous Score was full of action, had a mafia, a footballer and just the perfect amount of suspense.

It took me days to get done with this book, not because it dragged but because I have to study for my Vivas and exams. But I'm glad I could finally read it.

The characters were really good, well crafted and relatable. Though at times, some scenes and characters were confusing, but otherwise it was a pretty smooth read.

Being a Football Thriller, I'm glad it wasn't too detailed. The matches were in great detail, but weren't too difficult to follow and for that I'm glad.

So all in all, it was a fun and entertaining read.

- "She agreed to drop down to my hotel room in the evening. I was sweating after finishing my rendezvous."

- "Morals were the last thing on my mind. I was ready to screw the societal norms!"

- "She was adept at her craft and knew exactly how to make a man happy."

- "I kissed her lips again, and soon, we were making love for the third time in the night. This time, I was a little more adventurous..."

- "The next moment, a flash of light approached us, followed by a loud gunshot."

- "I was badly hurt and rapidly losing my senses. She came close and leaned over my body. I tried to lift my hand and whisper her name. But everything around me went dark!"

- "Was it just a figment of my imagination or was she really there last night?"

Zareena - she made me feel like a man, she saved my life, but then she vanished without a trace!
A suspense thriller strictly for adults!

Cover Review:

The cover is simple and relates with the storyline pretty well, so I like it.

Book Review

I'll be perfectly honest, I'm not a fan of short stories. I rather prefer novels.

But Zareena had it all. In 16 pages, it told a complete story, with stable characters, a well planned storyline and just the right amount of suspense.

The book was short, therefore so will be the review. Zareena was a short, enjoyable read and a concoction of the right amounts of suspense, love and heartbreak.
